It is better you use non-US address so as not to be asked to fill a tax form that will require certain information you might not be able to provide. I’m sorry I will not be able to recommend any virtual office provider service to you now, but you can find many of them by making a search on google.com for “virtual office providers” Whichever company you choose; make sure to do your due diligence before signing up with them. And remember, it is only their address you use when filling Clickbank form.

When you make sales, Clickbank will send your commission check to the address in your account with them, then your friend or relation in the UK for example, or the virtual office company you’ve signed up with, will forward the check to you in Nigeria. You will be able to cash the money by logging it into your domiciliary account with any bank in the country. This means you need to open a domiciliary account to cash foreign checks.

That’s generally how to sign up to promote products in Clickbank if Clickbank doesn’t allow your country. Now, let’s talk about what you should be looking out for in the product you want to promote to ensure success.

Before you decide on a product, see that it has appreciable level of demand, that is, a good number of people are interested in buying it. Imaging having hundreds of people reading your comment from one blog everyday, and you have twenty of such blogs that you comment on regularly, that will be giving you the chance to expose your sales page to thousands of potential buyers.

If your comments are attractive, you will definitely have visitors of the blogs clicking on your name to view your sales page. To be attractive, your comments should provide value for the reader. Somebody should gain something from reading your comments.

Even though you are not the original author of the article you are commenting on, however, you can still add value or benefits in your comments for visitors or anyone who reads them. If someone read your comments and got something they can use, they will definitely want to visit your site or to know more about you. I have continued to experience this all the time.

How do you make your comments attractive? You ask. There are ways you can do that, I will tell you.

- Highlighting addition points about the subject that the author didn’t treat, but are valuable. However, this should come after you have commended the author for his/her efforts.

- Highlighting one or two salient points in the original article, and explaining how much they have helped you in any way or how much you believe they will help you.

- If you disagree with the author on some points, say so, and explain why you take such position, giving reasonable points.

- Using your personal experience or the experience of somebody you know to emphasize a point in the discussion.

Generally, here are what I tag the dos (what you should do) in commenting on other people’s blogs to receive maximum clicks on your name.

- Give value in your comments.
- Make comment early
- Reply other people’s comments (if you have something to support their comments with, or have answers to their questions). This increases your activity on the blog, which portrays you as an expert in the field.
- Respect other people’s viewpoint even if you disagree with them.
- When signing up to make comment, you should creatively have the keyword of your product in the “Name” field. You can write something like, “Rose @ Lose Weight”, instead of your name “Rose”. Then of course, you should put your affiliate link’s url in the “Website” field.
- Upload an image on your Avatar, otherwise the default Avatar image will be showing. You don’t have to use your picture; you can use any image that appeals to you. - If you are selling to the global audience, make your comments global – don’t mention you are commenting from Nigeria.
- Don’t be abusive or cursing in your comments.

Joining Forum Discussions

Like identifying high trafficked blogs, you can also find high trafficked forums to join in their discussions – by doing a search on google.com you will find many of them. Apart from commenting on threads raised by others, you can also start a thread.

As discussed above about commenting on blogs, your comments on forums should also contain benefits that readers can make use of that will make them to be attracted to your signature, and click on your sales page link.

I will explain what signature is. Signature is a short expression that you may want to appear below every comment or post you make at the forum. You can write your signature from your profile area, and you are allowed to hyperlink text on your signature.

You need to make the best of your signature. Write very compelling words and hyperlinks them with the url of your sales page. Still using our lose weight example, you can have a signature that reads, “Loss Weight Fast!” which is hyperlinked to the sales page, so that when anyone clicks on it, they will taken to the sales page.

Using Web 2.0

By bookmarking your article pages, your articles are given the chance to be read by the millions of users of the bookmarking sites where your articles have been bookmarked, and that’s lots of traffic hitting the sales page of your product, increasing your sales.

Firstly, since ClickBank is not the only Affiliate center where you can find products to promote and make money, I will give an expanded answer to “how you can pick a good affiliate product to market”.

I understand the huge interest people have about promoting ClickBank’s products. Many of the products on ClickBank give great percentage commission as high as 70%. But if you are in a country that is not listed in ClickBank to be able to participate in their program, you can do the following:

Get resale rights

If the product you wish to promote has a resale right, you can purchase it and sell it. The good thing about this is that you can use the product, sell it, and keep all the profit.

A product with high gravity suggests it is a good selling product.

At Commission Junction, we have statistics like Earning Per Click (EPC), and Network Earnings to give you an idea of how much the product is selling. A product with high EPC and Network Earnings also suggest it is a good sellable products – if people are already selling it, you too!

At Amazon, you could actually search for top selling products in any product category and get a list of the top selling products in order of their sales.

Generally, you have statistics about the performance of products, such as the ones above, including their Conversion Rate, to gauge the selling potential of any product.

But, I must be quick to say that you shouldn’t base your choice of product to promote solely on its high sellable statistics that you got from the affiliate centers.

The reason is that if the product is top selling, the chance that competition would have built up so strong is there. For instance, if a lot of people are promoting it using PPC, the level of bidding for its keywords would have gone up, beyond what you can afford to compete favorable.

Those that started promoting it newly and have made lots of money from it can afford to bid very highly for its keyword, and therefore get more traffic to their sites, and of course make more sales and more money. If you are just coming in you may find yourself caught in a fierce competition, and you may not have the money to face them eyeball-to-eyeball, shoulder-to-shoulder.

This is how many new comers to the PPC game lose money. They find a top-selling product at an affiliate center, and off they go to set up PPC campaign, without much understanding of how PPC works.

Before long they would discover they are either not having clicks or there are clicks on their adwords, but the clicks are not converting, that is, people who are clicking on the adverts are not going ahead to make order for the product. Therefore, while they are paying Google (if they are using Google Adword), they are not making any commission because they are not selling. That, of course, is a loss.

The simple reason for getting into this position is that the amount of money the marketer is biding on the high converting keywords (these are keywords that people that are more likely to make purchase use) is not enough to get his or her adwords exposed to people who may likely buy.

In a nutshell, the marketer’s adwords are only seen by people who are either looking for information or just “window-shopping”. They will click on the adverts without any intention to buy.

It is therefore not a good strategy to pick a product to promote just because it is a top selling product on ClickBank, CJ, or other centers. Most of the time, if not in all cases, products that have been identified as top selling at the affiliate centers are usually very competitive to sell.

Even if you decide to use search engine traffic to sell it, you may discover a tough competition there too, so much that unless you know search engine optimization and are able to optimize your site strongly, your site may never come near the first page on the search engines.

Experienced marketers, who have money to spend, would have secured the services of search engine optimization experts to strongly optimize their sites to a high page rank, so that whenever anyone makes a search for their keywords, their sites would be on the first page. They would have also made their sites highly professional with the ability to convert strongly.

The consequence of this is that it will be extremely difficult for you to displace these sites from their top positions on the search engines. If you want to try, you should be prepared to know deep search engine optimization strategies to apply on your site, and you should be willing to put in some months of work to build it to the level it could compete favorably with the old sites.

The better way to choose a profitable product to sell is to research an industry and find a niche that has good search volume as well as high potential to make purchase. You should also check the level of competition in the niche, and if it’s not high, you could be sure of making money in it. You could then go to any of the affiliate centers to find a product that solves an identifiable problem in that niche to promote.

But before I go on, let me point out a very important fact about making success of affiliate marking business, which many marketers I’ve seen don’t heed to, and so never make any affiliate commission through their blogs.

You must choose affiliate products that are relevant to your blog’s subject to promote. And your blog should be focused on a particular subject, and not on general topics for search engines to easily find it, as well as for your visitors to quickly see you as an expert in an area.

In fact, this is the biggest advantage of blogging. As you build up your blog, you are increasing the perception your visitors and readers are having about your expertise, and because people are more relaxed relating with experts, it becomes easy for them to follow your recommendation on a product, and use your affiliate link to buy it.

Displaying the Product’s Text Link

A text link is a promotional material like banners, containing your affiliate ID and through which your visitors will be taken to the landing page of the product when they click on it. The major difference between text links and banner links is that ad messages in text links are in form of texts or wordings; while in banner links the ad message is in form of graphics.

Comparing the effectiveness of the two, text links are generally believed to be better in compelling someone to click on the ad. Although I haven’t personally done an extensive test on this, however, from close observation I have received more clicks on my text links than banners, and I think this belief is right.

The reason why people would click on text links more than banners is that people usually associate banners to advertising, so when they see banners, their minds immediately turn up a picture of somebody trying to sell something to them, and since they don’t usually love to part with their money, they may resist the temptation of clicking the ad.

But in the case of text ads, since the message is in wordings, they appear as information, rather than adverts. And because people usually love to have information, they will likely click on it.

However, this does not mean you should only use text ads on your blog or site, no; you can use the two skillfully at different locations without appearing desperate to get the visitor’s clicks. Also, you can test which one works better for your blog and probably stick to it.

Before I go to the next strategy, again let me point out another thing that could strongly affect the success of your affiliate marketing on your blog.

Don’t crowd your blog with adverts. A lot of newbies usually fall into this error, I was too when I was starting out hunting for genuine money on the Internet. The wrong thinking is that if visitors are hit everywhere they turn to on the blog then they will surely click on one.

Like I said before, this is a thinking that has been proved to be wrong. People primarily visit blogs for the articles to get information. When they find good information on your blog, they will stay longer, and relaxed. They would therefore be in a good mood to buy something.

By rushing them with adverts as they log into your blog, instead of contents, only unsettles their minds, making them want to get out fast.

If you have several products you are promoting, instead of displaying all their banners and text ads on your blog, you can put many of them in a page you can title “Recommended Resources”, with a link from the side bar. Your visitors will see this link and some will click on it to see the product there. They will have already known that the products are for sale, and so would be more likely to buy them, without feeling someone was goading them to buy.

Using Links in Articles and Comment Posts

This is probably the most effective way of promoting affiliate products on your blog. It involves writing a very good article with lots of information the reader can use and then citing the product you are promoting as a solution to a highlighted problem, which the reader may consider using. You will put the link to the product at the appropriate place in the article.

But mind you, the article must highlight a problem or need, and the product you are promoting must be a possible solution to the problem. In this way, the reader will be grateful for the information and for showing him or her a way out, and they will more than likely click on the link, and the chance of making order for the product is also high.

As you may already know, affiliate marketing is simply promoting other people’s products and getting commissions. There are strong attractions for opting for affiliate marketing as a means of making money online:

One, the product has already been made. So you don’t have to spend money or

lots of time creating a product to sell. All you need to do is to find a product that has good demand, promote it and earn commission up to 75% of its price.

Two, the sales page has been professionally designed to ensure sales, much better than if you were to do it yourself (assuming you are a newbie to affiliate marketing).   

Three, a system for taking orders, delivering the product to buyers, and attending to customers concerns, is also already in place. You don’t need to worry yourself about all issues relating to both sales and after sales matters. Again, all you have to do to make money on the product is to promote it. 

However, to successfully promote an affiliate product, you will have to drive traffic to the product’s sales page – this is the critical point about making money with affiliate marketing. The more targeted traffic you direct to the product, the greater the chance of making sales.

On the contrary, if you don’t expose the product to potential buyers, even if the product has a great demand with killer sales page, there will still be no way you can make sales or succeed in marketing it.   

So, it is clear that driving traffic to your affiliate product is the dividing line between making money in affiliate marketing and making no money.

There are two broad ways of directing traffic to your affiliate product:

1. By buying traffic, e.g., using Pay Per Click, PPC, advertising platform, also known as Adword.

Adwords are the little text adverts you will usually see on your right-hand side of the page that comes up when you do a search for something on the search engines, such as Google. You will see it assigned the title “Google Sponsored Ads” on the Google search engine. 

To use Adword to direct traffic to your affiliate product, you have to sign up for Adword with Google or yahoo, depending on which one you want to use, though Google is more popular; then fund your account and set up your Ads.

When your target buyers click on your ad, your adword account with Google will be charged. That is, you will pay Google a couple of cents (depending on what you have set when setting up your campaign) for each click on your Ad. That is why it is called Pay Per Click, PPC.

The person is then taking to a page (the lading page) where the product can be exposed to him or her. There are two ways you can do this, I will explain.

One is to direct the potential buyer who clicks on your ad straight to the sales page of the product, where they will get the detail of the product and be enticed to order it.

Applying this method makes things very easy for you. You wouldn’t need to set up a web page, full website or blog to promote the product, as you only need to find a high selling product, pick good keywords that will most likely lead to purchase, set your bidding right, write a compelling ad, run it, and drive traffic directly to the sales page of the product, through your affiliate link of course.

But this method has two problems.

One is that some affiliate centres, such as commission junction do not allow their affiliates to send traffic from Adwords directly to the sales pages of the products registered with them.

Therefore, if your preference is to go with this method, you will have to leave out Commission Junction, and go for Click Bank and other centres that don’t bother about directing traffic straight to the sales pages of the products you are promoting.

The other problem with this method affects your ability to make money. It takes more than one exposure for people, including yourself, to buy something (if I’m wrong please say it in your comment below).

By sending someone directly to the sales page of the product you are promoting only exposes them to the product once. If they didn’t buy then, it means you have lost the chance of selling it to that person for good.

This does not mean it is not possible to make sales and even make profit at the end of the day with this method, sure, out of two hundred clicks or thereabout, you may have at least one sale depending on how hot the product is and how compelling its sales page is also.

But the fact is that the chance of making sales with this method is slim, and it is even slimmer now with the global economic melt down currently ravaging the world. Although this method used to work very well before, now a lot of people are keeping their wallets a hundred meters away from them.

That brings us to the second way by which you can send traffic from your Adword campaign to your product. This is a highly effective method, and it’s what produces the results of tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars sales you hear other people are making in affiliate marketing.

Instead of directing someone who clicks on your ad straight to the sales page of the product, using this method you will direct that person to a page you have set up to get a free report or e-book relevant to what he or she is looking for. For instance, if you are marketing an anti aging food supplement, you can prepare a report or e-book on a topic such as How To Live Up to 100.

Together with a good copy to compel people to want the report hungrily, you will put a form on the page that anyone who desires the report should fill to be able to download it. With this form you will capture their emails (this is your passport to making the money).

In the report or e-book, you will carefully introduce the product to the prospective buyer as the ready solution to the problem they want to fix.

I hope you appreciate that this information I’m freely sharing with you is a strongly guided secret that the Internet marketing gurus sell for hundreds of dollars online. And that’s because this affiliate marketing strategy spins cool money over and over again.

What that meant was that Nigerians and people from countries which Click Bank doesn’t reach who still
wanted to promote Click Bank products would have to look for an indirect way of doing it, such as by looking for someone they trust in countries where Click Bank reaches, such as the US to help them receive and cash their checks from Click Bank, and then forward the money to them through bank wire, Western Union, or any other means convenient to them.

But how does the money get to you after Graph Card cashes it, you may be asking yourself now. I will explain.

The PMB detail in the US address that Graph Card will issue you when you sign up for their virtual office service will be exclusively yours, no other customer of theirs will have it. With this personal PMB detail,
they are able to recognise that a check is for you.

And when Graph Card receives a check that is for you, they will cash it and load it to your account with them. You will be able to receive the money in your country by either paying it to yourself through Western Union, or by sending it directly into your Guarantee Trust Bank account if you are in Nigeria (check which bank is being used in your country).

To make money in affiliate product marketing, you need to expose the product you are promoting to traffic. And the more targeted the traffic is, the better your chance of making sales, or getting your visitors to complete an action (if it’s a Cost Per Action program you are promoting).

There are different ways you can draw traffic to your product, which include free traffic methods, such as from search engines, article distribution, forum participation, etc. Another way by which you can bring traffic to your affiliate product is through paid methods where you will have to spend money in getting traffic.

The biggest advantage paid methods of acquiring traffic, which include PPC, has over the free method is that you don’t have to wait for several weeks to be able to develop your website or blog to the level of been able to start pulling in the needed traffic.

With PPC, you are buying your traffic right away as people click on your Adwords, as long as you have some money to put into the project, and you can start seeing result almost immediately.

However, it does not necessarily follow that those that click on your Adwords will go ahead to buy your product or fill a required form for you to make money. For online affiliate marketers, 2008 from all indications can be said to be highly rewarding. It was the year that saw the biggest earning from affiliate marketing ever revealed. Just as the year was winding up, the Internet marketing world was astound to hear how 25 year old Aymen was raking about $100, 000 daily from Cost Per Action (CPA) programs.

Cost Per Action means that you get paid certain amount of money, depending on the product you are promoting, sometime it could be between $15 and $20, or even be up to $150, when you send people to the website of the company you are promoting to perform a required action there. This action may just be to fill a short form. They don’t have to buy the product for you to get paid.

For Aymen to be able to make so much money from that shows the huge profit potential in affiliate marketing, and there are probably thousands of other affiliate marketers who really profited big time from affiliate marketing in 2008.   

Now for 2009, where will the big money be made? What products would people likely spend their money on the coming year? These are questions I intend to answer in this article.   

For discerning affiliate marketers, the current global economic recession, which is sure to creep harder into 2009, holds the barometer for determining where the pressure to spend more money will likely be.

It is ironic that while the negative impact of the recession will cause many businesses, e.g., businesses that sell luxury items to lose sales, or go out of business completely, many others, especially those that sell necessities, will make more money than they have ever before. This is, as a matter of fact, normal since money will always continue to circulate, and drift more to areas of high demand.

And here are some industries that will likely experience higher demand than before as a result of the economic downturn in 2009.  

Home Improvement Industry

With the lay off of millions of people from work in the United States and many other countries of the world, people are going to be a lot more at home with their families. Therefore, they will more likely be pressured to fix certain things in their homes. There will also be pressure on those who own estate properties to sell off their properties in order to have money to support their livelihood. But before selling, they will need to put them in order to command good purchase.

As a result of this, products and services in the home improvement sector are positioned to make more money in 2009.

Game Industry

Also due to the fact that a large number of people will be home idle, they will naturally want to keep themselves entertained. And one of the ways they will likely do this is by playing games, either online or physical games. The game industry is bound to make big money in 2009.

Entertainment Industry

For the same reason that a lot of people will play lots of games in 2009 as a result of the economic recession, it is also on record that during difficult economy, people look for entertainment to make their minds merry. Therefore, the sale of movies in DVDs and downloadable format may hit the roof in 2009, making tons of cash for affiliates.

Job Recruitment Services

Naturally, getting a job again will be a great desire for those who lost their jobs previously. So they will seek the services of job recruitment firms, including spending money on buying resumes, and other things that may give them some edge in getting a job.  

Information Industry

People are going to be hungry for certain information, which include: information about how to make money online, and how to manage money; debt consolidation; how to start a business, including online business; saving fuel; reducing insurance cost; opportunities to study online.

Marketers of this kind of information are very likely to make big money in 2009.

If you think about the recession deeply, and you consider human behaviour, as per what makes people to spend their money the way they do, you will sure be able to see other industries where people will more be “pressured” to spend money in 2009.

What that means is that the amount of money you can possibly make promoting affiliate products is not limited; it all depends on how well you do it.

Having an Email List

This is the money making machine that super affiliates use, and it is a surprise to see the majority of affiliate not using it. Having an email system that allows you to take the email address of visitors to your website or blog enables you to establish a relationship with them.

An email list allows you to continue to promote affiliate products or programs that are related to your topic, which you think will be valuable to your subscribers. It gives you the opportunity to continue to sell different valuable products to your list and make regular income. As a matter of fact, it allows you to run your affiliate marketing endeavour as a true business, not a hobby. And that means it enables you to make money with your website or blog regularly.

The bigger the size of your list, the more money you will be able to make. That’s why super affiliates continue to build their list using different strategies. With a list size of say 50, 000, just an email recommending a product or program to them can roll in several tens of thousands of dollars into the accounts of the owners.
