Opportunity – are there opportunities for future partnerships and joint ventures with other people to promote products in the niche? Opportunities to partner with other successful marketers in the niche in one way or the other can enable you to leverage on one another’s resources and multiple your income greatly.

How to find desperate niches: you can search for profitable niches by browsing certain websites to see what questions people are asking, comments and articles they are writing, and the kind of products they are buying. Day/Step #2: Build Keyword list Around The Niche

Build an initial keyword list of top 10 keywords around your selected niche. Pick keywords with 1,000 and more monthly search volume. Set up your website with a simple sales funnel: Sales page -> payment -> customer registration page -> download page.

Or, you may have actually registered one and made hundreds of dollars in only a few days, but just as you were about to roll out the drums to celebrate your new found “instant money-making machine”, you woke up one morning to find your Google adsense account has been terminated and the money gone.

Now, why would Google suddenly terminate your account without giving any reason?

I will tell you the reason, and I will say quickly that it is not what you may want to hear, but it is the truth. If you know me well, you would know I don’t believe in hype or covering up something to lure people into accepting it.

Google did not terminate your adsense account because you are a Nigerian, no, no, that’s far from it. The simple reason your account was terminated is because you went against their policy regarding their parked domain program.

You may not know since you didn’t read their terms of use, and policy when signing up to display their adsense on your parked domain, but ignorance, as they say in law, is no excuse. One aspect in Google’s adsense parked domain program policy is that you must not promote the parked domain in any way. You must not send traffic to it either through article marketing, link building, PPC, paid to click, social media marketing, or by any other marketing methods.

Once Google discovers that traffic is moving to your parked domain, and they trace the traffic to any marketing effort, they will immediately terminate your adsense account and return whatever you may have made to their advertisers.

Google believes that sending people to a site that has no content whatsoever, but adverts is a fraudulent way to make money from them, because you are indirectly asking those you send there to click on any link since there is nothing else they would do anyway.

Such clicks are not valuable to advertisers who pay for them since they are not made from free will. And as Google will of course act to protect its platform and advertisers from paying for valueless clicks, such publisher’s account will be terminated, and earnings forfeited.

The only traffic Google will allow to a parked domain site containing its adsense is that from organic search. If someone made a search for a domain on a search engine and got your domain, visited, and clicked on a link there, Google will not frown on that.

Another kind of traffic Google will not terminate your account for is traffic from links that were created to the site before it was for any reason turned into a parked domain.

What I mean is this: You have a site up for some time, and have promoted it then by building links to it through article marketing, link exchange, etc. Later on, you decided, for instance, that you want to redo the site and that in the mean time you want to park it and have Google adsense on it. Because those links have been there before the domain was parked with adsense, Google will not terminate such publisher’s account.

However, such publisher must not continue promoting such domain.

So, if you have had your account terminated after joining their parked domain program, which you directed traffic to, that must have been the reason for the termination of your account, although they will never disclose the reason for terminating anyone’s account.

If you are still promoting your parked domain, and it hasn’t been terminated, it’s only because either Google has not found your domain out, or they are still investigating, know that the hammer may drop soon.

Bottom Line:

The bottom line I will like to draw here as I conclude this article is that it is always adviseable to read and understand the terms of use, or company policy, before signing up or registering for any program with any company or website you desire to participate with. If you don’t, you may find yourself going against their rule without knowing it, and in the end your efforts and money can come to not.

Set Your Permalink Structure

If you are using WordPress blog and haven’t set your permalink, if you click on any of your previous posts you will see it reads something like: http://example.com/?p=N , where N is the Post ID number.
This is the default Permalink that WordPress will display for that page. But this does not help you as long as the search engine is concerned. It doesn’t say anything about the kind of information you have on that page, and so the search engine will not index it if someone searches for the kind of information you have there – and there goes your traffic!

If you have set up your Permalink, the URL of that page will describe the page by showing the title of the article on it, which would contain relevant keywords. The URL will look something like this:

http://NAME.com/blog/category/internet-marketing-ideas-tips/page/2, where “internet-marketing-ideas-tips” is the title of the article.

If someone was searching for internet marketing ideas, this page would definitely be index by the search engine because its url has internet marketing ideas.

Apart from your posts, if you have your Permalink set up, it will also reflect in all comment and archive pages.

To set up Permalink structure for your blog, you would need to log in to your admin panel of your WordPress Theme, then go to Option (or Settings for recent version of WordPress theme). You will find the Permalinks link there, click on it and you will be taken to the Permalink page where you can set up Permalink structure for your blog.

There are different Permalink formats given that you can choose from, such as the ones that will make your blog pages read like: http://example.com/category/post-name/, http://example.com/year/month/day/post-name, or http://example.com/achive/post_id/

And if you want to customise your Permalink, including making it to end in .htm, there is a box you will type in the format you desire in this manner: /%category%/%postname%/%post_id%.htm

By /%category%/ it means the URL will show the category in which the post is made; %postname% means the URL will show the title of the article on the page; %post_id% means that the URL will show the page ID, which is the page number.

Although the URL of this page http://NAME.com/blog/category/internet-marketing-ideas-tips/page/2 takes the format /%category%/%postname%/%post_id%.htm, you can use any other format, but use the one that has the %postname% tag so that the title of the article on the page, which contains the keyword of the searcher, will be shown.

Get Listed On Search Engines

After your website or blog is launched, the next thing is to get it listed on search engines. You see, without being listed, there is no way the search engines will index and display your site whenever someone makes a search for your subject. It doesn’t matter how long the site has been up, it will never get traffic from search engines.

To confirm if your site is index on the search engines or not, type the url of the site, “http://www.NAME.com” in google search engine. If your site doesn’t come up in the displayed result, it means it hasn’t been index – it is not listed in search engines.

There are different ways you could list your site on search engines. One of them is to use the search engine’s listing tool found on their website. For instance, google has a listing tool at www.google.com/addurl.html that will enable you to submit your site’s url, and get it listed in the search engine. However, I no longer use this method, and I don’t recommend it because it takes too long for websites to be index from their listing tool, it could even take months.

I will therefore discuss the other ways, which are faster.

1. Use Other People’s Blog’s or Forums

You can get your website or blog easily index in google and other search engines by visiting and making comments or other peoples blogs or forum related to the subject of your site. Blogs and forums that have large followership and high google ranking give faster result. However, make sure that the blogs or Forums allow links to be placed on them.

That is, if someone clicks on your name field from a comment you made on a blog, they will be taken to your site. And in the case of forums, the forum should allow you to leave a link to your site in the signature box.

Having a link from blogs or forums to your site enables search engines to index your website or blog in a couple of days. This is possible because, as the search engine spider crawls the blogs or forums where your link is, it finds your link, follows it, and gets to your site, and then crawls it too. It relays the information that it got from your site to the indexing portion of the search engine software, which indexes it in the search engine.

To make it appealing for the search engine spider to follow your link on blogs and forums, you need to put the main keywords of your site in the anchor text. The anchor text is the text that is highlighted, and from which one is taken to your site when clicked.

In the case of blogs, the anchor text is what you type on the name field. Instead of writing John on the name field when leaving a comment, it will be better to type something like “John @ Make Money Online” if your website is about making money online. After you have submitted your comment, and it is approved, “John @ Make Money Online” will appear as your name, and when clicked will lead to your site.

If someone makes a search for how to make money online or related topics, the search engine spider crawls all the websites listed in it for the information that the searcher needs. As it crawls the blogs or forums where your link is, it finds your link, and noticed your anchor text is related to what the searcher is looking for.

Having had a first hand experience with these swindlers, I want to share with you some ways by which you can identify them and so avoid falling into their antics and losing your hard earned money.

Pay To Do Jobs Websites

There are some websites out there on the Internet telling you they have jobs you can start doing immediately from home and earning lots of money, but you will have to make some small payments to them first to be able to get these jobs.

Many, if not all of these kind of websites are scam. In particular are the ones that promise data entry jobs. You should run away from data entry jobs offer, they are scammers. This is how they deceive and rip people off their money:

They tell you they have loads of jobs that involve just entering data, which could make you up to $750 each day. And of course, you will never get clicks even if you spend all day and night, seven days a week, submitting their ads to classified advert sites – I tried for a few weeks with enthusiasm, but got frustrated when I didn’t see any dollar. When I decided to use their money-back guarantee promise, and ask for my money back, I discovered I couldn’t log in to my account anymore, and not long after the website went off the Internet.

So, like I said before, run away from ‘pay to do data entering jobs’, and in general all ‘pay to do jobs’, including online survey – you may see money in your account, but you will never be able to withdraw any. Why would anyone who needs people to work for them ask them to pay before given the job? These scammers will say the reason they are asking you to make payment first is to ensure only serious people who will do the job register. But it’s a lie.

Buying Your Website Or Domain For $50,000

There are scammers who will send you a mail saying they are interested in buying your domain name or website for as much as $50,000. Having gotten your interest, they will now demand that they need to have a trusted company evaluate the domain or website before they will buy it from you.

Then they will skillfully guide you to another of their scam websites that offers domain and website evaluation service to do the evaluation there. They will insist that it is only the evaluation from that website that they will accept. They will even direct you to a blog or forum they have also set up (without you knowing it’s theirs) where the comments there spoke glowingly about using the service of the domain and website evaluation company they want you to patronize.

If you are not careful, you could easily fall for this high level scam. After all, what is paying $65 to evaluate your site to making $50,000 from its sale, you might think. But if you checked them out, you would see they are scammers. How can you check them out?

Using Whois

Go to whois.com, you will be able to discover who owns or registered any website, their address, when the site was registered, etc. Use whois.com to check out the owners of all the websites you have been directed to. You will discover that the scammer owns them all.

whois.com is a wonderful website you must use often if you do not trust a website, the information you get from whois.com can help you avoid falling victim of Internet scam. For instance, if a website is making claims of having been in business for 10 years, but when you checked its whois you saw it was registered just two years ago, that means you cannot trust that website because the owners lied. The wise thing to do is not to do business with it; else it could turn out to be scammers.

Looking Out For Closed Blogs Or Forums

As I mentioned above, in a bid to make you believe them, scammers might direct you to a set up blog post or forum where the comments there approve the company they want you to do business with. Such blogs or forums usually have few comments or posts, and you will not be able to add new ones. The reason they give for this is that they have closed comments on the posts because people have been scamming them. This is simply a lie, such blogs or forums are themselves scammers’ tools.

Exaggerated Earning Potential Or Claims

This is the hallmark of scams on the Internet. Scammers know that by promising you will make $750 or more a few hours a day on your pajamas with their program or system they will get your attention. So when you get such offers don’t rush to make payment for them, but check them out first. Check out their Whois and see if the information you get from it is consistent with what is on their website. Visit popular forums and inquire if anyone knows about them or have used their product or service before.

Brad Gosse has been operating a verified PayPal account for the past nine years, in fact, he was one of the earliest people to sign up with PayPal when they started operation. Over these years his business had been absolutely legal and had obeyed all their rules. He hadn’t had any problem with them whatsoever.

Then, a couple of days ago, he received a mail from PayPal stating his account had been limited, with thousands of dollars trapped in it without any explanation. He was not contacted or questioned before they limited his account.

For your account to be limited means your account must not have more than $500 for a year. So that meant Brad’s money worth thousands of dollars was gone if he couldn’t reinstate it.

Quickly, he called them up and followed it up, and his account was reinstated to verified position again.

In shock as to how close he was to losing his money with PayPal, he thought he should withdraw part of it to his bank account. So he did just that. But a bigger shocker was awaiting him the following day.

PayPal completely suspended his account for 180 days (six months), again without first contacting him or letting him know why they were taking such action. After calling them up again to find out from them what the problem was, he was told there was unusual fund transfer from his account, and the account remained suspended.

Although Brad was lucky to have moved some of his money to his bank account, and also has other accounts that are not PayPal, he is still distraught because as a big time Internet marketer, he still has several thousands of dollars locked away in the PayPal account. You can read up his story from his site, which I have given at the bottom of this post.

But first, here is the bottom line of this story:

Brad is an A Canadian and operates his business from Ontario, yet he could be treated this way by PayPal. He understood their rules and had obeyed them religiously for nine years, yet he woke up one day to find his PayPal account had be limited, and then totally suspended.

This means everyone should be very careful about using PayPal account. In fact, in recent times PayPal has been notoriously reputed to closing people’s accounts at will without any explanation.

Once they notice large movement of funds in or out of your account, or see you accessing your account from different IP addresses, they wouldn’t try to reach you for explanation, the best they would do is to limit your account, suspend it, or completely ban you. If they limit your account and you cannot reach them or satisfactorily show the proof they will ask of you, there goes your hard-earned money!

My Recommendation

Use other alternative payment solutions to PayPal. It is true that PayPal is perhaps the most widely known online payment solution around today, and with Ebay, which they own, they are monopoly, however, there are also other payment solutions, which are coming up strong, and which you should try using.

There is 2CO.com, moneybookers.com, and there is Fastecash.com (if you are in Nigeria), to help you receive payments for the sales of your products.

If you like a program you want to sign up with as affiliate and they say on their sites it’s by PayPal they make payments, you can send them an email to ask if they wouldn’t pay by other means, like wire transfer or check that may be convenient to you. This is what I do, and a lot of times I get positive responses and I’m able to sign up.

If they insisted it’s only by PayPal they can pay, then try look for their competitors who are willing to accept your payment terms.

This is very important for Nigerians and people from other countries who are not listed by PayPal to use their system. Don’t try to get into PayPal through the backdoor like I’m aware many people are doing by using Chinese, India, etc, addresses to sign up with PayPal. This is like putting banana in a monkey’s mouth for PayPal, which will be happy closing your account and freezing your money.

There are many business opportunities you can do on the Internet without PayPal, therefore the risk of trying to force yourself to use PayPal when they did not list your country is not worth it at all.

If you must use PayPal, be sure not to allow your money with them to amass. In fact, don’t leave more than $500 at a time in your account even if it is verified.

The month of September is the beginning of the last quarter of the year, and there is no better time than now for us to assess our business seriously and see how well we have gone in achieving our goals for the year.

This is a very important exercise you must do, especially as it relates to increasing your finances online. Don’t be afraid to do this exercise, even if you think you haven’t achieved anything tangible. That may not be true because, if for nothing else, you would have gained certain knowledge that could propel you to eventually achieving the goal.

Here are some questions to ask yourself to help you assess how well you have done or are doing to achieving your goal of making money on the Internet.

- How much money did you set to make in a month?

- What Online business model did you choose to use?

- What new things did you learn about the business model, and did you
apply them?

- How long did you apply them – 3, 6, 9 months?

- What are the biggest challenges to achieving your goal?

- How have you tried solving them, and where you able to surmount them?

- How are you promoting the business?

- How much is your monthly budget for your business?

- How much time do you give your business daily, weekly, and monthly?

- Have you made any money from the business model?

- If no, why do you think you haven’t made any money?

- Do you have any mentor who has accomplished what you want to achieve?

- Have you discovered the strategies he/she is using?

- Have you applied it too to your business?

- If you have made some money, how much?

- How was the money made?

- Are you doing more of what made you money?

These questions will enable you to really assess how you are doing in your online money making venture. It will make clear to you where you have failed, and where to correct. And at the end of it, you will be put back on track, and motivated to achieving your goal.

One thing that will be obvious to lots of people who haven’t made much from the Internet as they go through the questions above is that they have not chosen a business model to follow to achieving the amount of money they want to achieve online. What the law is saying is that, to be able to make money, you must choose a subject to set up your blog or website on, which must have appreciable number of people interested in it. They should also have a good record of spending money, and the level of competition in the industry should be low.

It is at this foundational stage that a lot of new comers to the Internet miss it. Perhaps, it is as a result of the misinformation they got from certain sources that they could set up blogs or websites on the area of their passion, and they would be able to make money from it.

This is true, but to an extent. If the subject you are passionate about shows that a large volume of people are interested in it, and these people actually spend money in the industry, then that would be a great subject to set a blog or website on.

But, if the subject does not draw the interest of more than a handful of people, then it would be a waste to invest your time and energy in it because it would never make money. Money is made from people who are interested in your subject, and the larger their number, the more the chance of making money from their patronage.

Therefore, the first thing you should do before starting a website or blog is to do some research to know if your area of passion has good volume of interested people, and if they spend money, as well as if the level of competition in the industry is low.

If your findings are positive, then, you could go ahead and set up your site knowing you could make money from it. but, if they are not, it will be better to either look for a profitable niche in that industry, or find another subject entirely.

I will show you how you can do this research using a free, but powerful software.

The Google keyword research tool, which you can find at https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal, can enable you to know before hand whether the subject you are about going into will be profitable or not.

This is how to do the research.

Log on to https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal, type in the subject you have in mind, for instance, golf training, then click enter.

The software comes out with the result as shown below.

This shows the level of searches made the previous month, and the average global monthly searches made in the last 12 months. You can also see the level of competition in the industry. The result also include related keywords to golf training, e.g., golf training aids, and golf swing training.

To get the above statistical result in terms of numbers, what you should do is to highlight the result page, then copy and paste it in a notepad. The statistical result for golf training is shown in a notepad below.

Now you can see the actual number of searches for golf training last month 201,000, and the average monthly searches in the last 12 months 135,000.

And also, very importantly, you can see how much people are bidding on the keyword golf training $2.03. What that means is that at the time I wrote this article, the average amount of money advertisers are paying per click when anyone clicks on their advert on this keyword is $2.03.

This is big money to spend on one click, so if there were 100 clicks on their adverts in a day, they would be paying $203.

What this implies is that people who are interested in golf training are money spenders. For someone to be paying $2.03 for a click on his or her advert means that that person knows he or she will make back the money together with profit from his or her target market – those looking for golf training.

And that is possible because those looking for golf training are people who are not just looking for free stuff, but are prepared to buy things relating to golf training.

This is how you can find out about the subject you want to get into first before setting out. Generally, keywords with average bidding of $0.50 and above will be profitable subjects to set up blogs or websites on, and of course, the higher the average bidding, the greater the money that can be made from that industry.

And when you combine the average bidding on the keyword with the average monthly search volume in the last 12 months, you will have a clear picture of what the industry looks like in terms of profitability.

Looking at the average monthly search volume for golf training, which is 135,000 and the bidding per click of $2.03, it means that the subject, golf training, is profitable.

But note that if the monthly volume of searches for the keyword is high, as well as the average bid on it, the possibility of stiff competition in that industry will be high too.

Therefore, in choosing a subject for your blog or website, you don’t only consider the search volume and average bid on it, but also the level of competition in the industry.

This is important if you hope to gain free traffic from search engines such as google and yahoo.

If the competition is very high, it would be extremely difficult for a newbie to compete with the established gurus who may have optimized their sites strongly for the search engines and ranking very highly.

However, you can still go ahead if you wish, to compete with the big guns, but you should be prepared to make serious investment in certain tools and materials, and patiently build your site.

But this is not the best way to go about having a money making site as a beginner, there is an easier way to achieving your goal of making money with blogs or websites even if strong competition exist in your subject area.

The best thing to do is to look within the industry for a niche that is not too competitive, but that has appreciable search volume and bidding level. With such a niche, you could still make money with your site without the danger of been crushed by heavy competition.

In fact, if you could pick a great niche, in terms of low competition, high search volume, and high bid level, and build your blog or website continually over time, you could become the niche leader, taking in much of the organic traffic from search engines to that niche, which could run into hundreds of thousands every month, and making the most money in the industry.

This is how to check the level of competition, to be sure you are not starting a blog or website that will never see the ray of the sun because there are huge trees taking up every available space in the sky.

Go to Google search engine at google.com and type in the keyword or the subject of your propose blog, e.g., golf training.

As you can see below, 68,100,000 web pages are brought out in the result (as at the time of doing this writing).

These are the pages the search engine could find in the entire worldwide web that have the words, “golf training” in them. This number is an indication of competition, but don’t panic, it is not a strong determinant of competition or whether your site can make money or not.

Here is how to know how strong the competition is, and if your website or blog could ever come up in good position on the major search engines, and take in huge traffic, which would therefore enable you to make money.

Individually, take the websites that appear on the first page to http://whois.domaintools.com. Copy and paste their URL in the search box, and click the “Lookup” button.

Some of the information whois.domaintools.com will provide you about the websites are their degree of search engine optimization (SEO), Alexa page rake, and inbounds links. To see their Google page rank, if you don’t have the tool on your browser, you can use the website: www.prchecker.info/check_page_rank.php

If all or most of the first ten web pages from google search result have very high degree of SEO (from 85 upwards), page rank (from 5 upwards), and hundreds of inbound or incoming links, it means the competition is extremely tough and there may not be any chance for a new site to come up on the first page of google when anyone searches for its keyword.

So, if you find your subject in such competition, you shouldn’t go ahead to set up a site on it if you desire traffic from the search engines (even if the subject is highly profitable) because you may never get it.

You will have to look for a less competitive niche, where the first web pages on google search result are page rank 3 or 4 and below, less degree of SEO, and not much incoming links.

However, if you plan to source traffic from other sources and not from the search engines or Pay Per Click, PPC, then you can go ahead to set up your site in a profitable subject, even if competition is strong – you will not be competing with them anymore.

Researching, and discovering profitable, less competitive niches is the sure way to go if your goal is to make money. That’s where a lot of people miss it from the beginning, but I want to help you achieve that goal without you having to do the research yourself.
